While stay at home orders are starting to lift and people are once again braving the outside world, many are deciding to stay home for a while longer. However, being at home full time with your whole family for weeks on end can sometimes seem overwhelming and stressful. There are many things you can do with your family to add a little more fun into the day at little to no cost.
- Play games, puzzles, and get crafty.
Yes, you don’t want to go to the store and buy games. So, you buy them online! Websites like jackboxgames.com offer game packs that are on sale right now! Play games like fibbage or civic doodle. All you need is a computer to pull the game up on and cell phones or computers to play individually on. (this is my families favorite!!) You can also look on amazon for board games, puzzles, and crafts!
- Watch Disney’s magic moments together!
These can be found on any of their social media pages. They have posted videos of parades, virtual tours, ride videos, the firework show at Disney World (swoon) and recipes of park favorites! Disney magic is unlike any other. Just go to any social media platform and search #disneymagicmoment. If you are looking for something specific, googling it will probably do the trick as well.
- Bake Together.
Baking can be such a fun activity. Get the family together and bake something. You can find great recipes online. Maybe even check out the Disney recipes! They have posted their churro recipe, the mickey beignets, and a pineapple whip recipe. Make some Disney treats then watch the Disney parade! Sounds like a fun afternoon!
- Write letters to your friends and family.
It’s hard during this time to feel connected to your friends and family members who you see often. Try writing them letters. You can make them personalized or buy fun “quarantine cards” online that are cute and hilarious. Write a note letting your loved ones know you miss them and can’t wait to see them again. Add a fun memory with them or a picture of you and them. It will make you feel connected and make them feel love. Everybody loves a pen pal and good old snail mail.
- Make TikToks.
Yes. TikTok. The one thing you swore you would never do. Shake it off, learn some fun dances, teach the family, and make videos! It won’t only kill time and create lots of laughter; it will also store memories of you and your family having fun. Find some TikTok trends you can recreate and get the family together to do it. Hey, if JLo and Mariah Carey can do it, So. Can. You.
There are so many more things you can do with your family. Get creative and look online! Zoos are posting videos, museums are doing E-videos, science experiments are always exciting, and you can never go wrong with a blanket fort and a movie day. Use this time to do things you haven’t had time to do or try things you want to try. Treasure the time with your family and remember that the world will come out stronger.
