Hi there! Welcome to The Local. I’m Lilly Kate, the editor-in-chief here. With this year’s publication, I hope you find value in the stories we tell and the images we present. We hope to give you a glimpse into both the exuberance and routine that Birmingham has to offer.

With a staff made up of a community of young storytellers, our mission is to capture and illuminate authentic views of Birmingham’s people, places and stories. Through our website and print magazine, we hope to amplify voices, ignite conversation and encourage change.
