By now we’re about a month into spring 2020, and even with the pollen and the sneezing, it’s still one of my very favorite seasons every time it rolls around. With all the quarantining and social distancing due to COVID-19, I’ve found myself much more able to enjoy the little gifts and enjoyments spring brings. Here are five things I’m loving about this season that I’d encourage you to enjoy over the next couple months:
1. Sunshine & Breezes
This one seems obvious, but it’s simply the best. Especially for those with stay at home orders in place, going outside changes everything. Take a walk or sit on your porch swing and read, and soak up that Vitamin D!
2. Strawberry Picking
It’s strawberry season! The berries are ripe, red and juicy, and you can pick them six feet apart from other pickers. Eat them plain, or take your game up a notch and bake a strawberry pie. Delicious!
3. Chalk Art
The weather’s great for being outside, and the time is right for happy little drawings or encouraging messages on sidewalks. I have loved seeing what people are drawing and writing as I go for walks downtown. It’s sure to brighten someone’s day!
4. Flowers
Flowers never fail to brighten my day! Plant some, pick some, bring them in the house or put them in your hair. It’s the little things.
5. Vegetable Garden
One of my favorite things to do every spring and summer is to plant (and eat from!) a vegetable garden. My family always plants tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini and other veggies. It’s refreshing to get your hands a little dirty and work for something you’ll get to enjoy later, and the results are so yummy!
