Birmingham’s newest indoor recreation facility has visitors jumping for joy⎯quite literally.
AirWalk Trampoline Arena opened January 20 and has since seen thousands come to enjoy the 16,000- square-foot facility, including Olympic-quality foam pits, a dodge ball stadium and almost 8,000 square feet of trampolines.
AirWalk assistant manager Breyden Burley says the arena has had jumpers of all ages, from young children to senior adults.
“We had a group of gym trainers, a fraternity group—the ages range completely.”
Nineteen-year old Natalie Price, a student at Jefferson State Community College, says she and her friends have come multiple times already since the arena opened.
“It’s pretty cool and unique,” Price says. “I’ve never been to somewhere like this before.”
Burley says that he believed an extreme arena would do well in Birmingham, but it’s done even better than projected.
“Our weekends are always booked, and we’ve seen a lot of parties already,” Burley says. “On Presidents Day we were full. We’re always busy.”
The arena also hosts special events such as “Club AirWalk,” a laser-lit jump time on Friday and Saturday nights for jumpers ages 15 and older. Burley also says that AirWalk will soon be adding new activities to its lineup, including dodge ball tournaments and aerobics classes.
“You burn so many calories in an hour of jumping. It’s a great workout,” Burley says.
Tickets can be bought at the door or pre-booked over the phone. The cost is $12 for one hour of jumping and $20 for two hours. All jumpers and observers must complete an online waiver in order to be on the jumping floor.
Safety is a top priority at AirWalk. A list of rules is posted at the entrance to the trampolines and staff members are constantly monitoring the arena.
AirWalk is located at 7010 Champion Drive, off Highway 280. For more information or to reserve a flight ticket, call 205-637-3347. Visit AirWalk online at www.airwalk.us.
