It’s Friday night and you don’t have a plan for your weekend. You crave adventure, but don’t know where to go. We’ve got you covered. Here’s the best day trip for this weekend.
9:00 a.m. : Grab some friends, get in the car, and head for the Georgia state line. As you’re driving down Lakeshore Drive, blaring the newest hits by Zac Brown Band, you stop and grab a chicken biscuit, hash browns and an orange juice before ending up on Interstate 59 headed towards Chattanooga.
10:00 a.m. : You’re nearly halfway there and realize you need to fill up your gas at Love’s. So while you’re there, you grab a hot cup of coffee and a Cliff Bar and head north on I-59.
12:00 p.m. : Soon you arrive in the humble town of Trenton, Ga., surrounded by the smell of fast food restaurants and the sight of Lookout Mountain, Trenton is the perfect small town for a hiking adventure. You arrive at your first destination: Cloudland Canyon State Park.
4:00 p.m. : After a beautiful hike through the well-travelled trails, sharing a packed lunch with friends and walking around at the incredible waterfalls, you head out to your next adventure.
5:00 p.m. : You arrive in downtown Chattanooga and jump in the busy line at Taco Mamacita. Nestled into the corner of North Market St., Taco Mamacita offers some of the best Mexican food in Chattanooga. With a diverse range of options from tacos to rotisserie chicken, everyone is happy.
6:00 p.m. : After grabbing your food, you walk a few blocks over to the Tennessee River and enjoy a meal while watching the sun set over the river. You bond over the memories you made and head back to Birmingham when the sun sets.
8:00 p.m. : You’ve arrived back in the Magic City, exhausted, but full of memories. You’ve grown closer with these people in one day than you would have imagined.
