The city of Birmingham will require residents to wear masks or face coverings when out in public after a city council meeting on Tuesday passed the ordinance. Here is what you need to know:
-It goes in effect on May 1st
-Masks must be worn in all public places
– It is not required if you are outside exercising.
-Children, 2 and older in addition to adults, must wear a mask
-Businesses have to make employees wear masks while at work, but do not have to provide them.
-Those violating the ordinance could face fines up to $500 and/or 30 days in the city jail.
