Birmingham’s 2nd Annual Hammerfest

Birmingham’s 2nd Annual Hammerfest

This year, Pepper Place will serve as the home to Birmingham’s 2nd Annual Hammerfest. The event, which takes place on March 14th,  combines a professional cycling race with a family friendly festival atmosphere.

The Hammerfest Community Hour will kick off at 4:15. This will be a time for adults, kids and even furry friends to walk, dance or ride through the Leprechaun Loop. Come decked out in your most festive apparel for the opportunity to win great prizes. The event will also offer a Kids zone, dog zone and food trucks.

The USA CRITS D1 ride will serve as the highlight of Hammerfest, and professional riders from 28 states, Washington D.C., Canada, England, Australia, Anguilla and the Dominican Republic will be participating.

For those who are not professional cyclists, Hammerfest will have plenty of festivities to partake in. With amateur rides throughout the day, a kids’ bike race and an opportunity to cheer on the AMBUCS kids as they ride on their Amtrykes with the professionals, there are fun cycling activities all throughout the day.

In addition to Hammerfest, the Hammer Ride will follow the event on March 15th. The 60-mile ride will be led by the USA CRITS D1 teams as well as a former world tour pro, Frankie Andreu. After the ride at 9 AM, there will be a lunch at Avondale Brewery. Registration for the race is $25.

More information on both Hammerfest and the Hammer Ride can be found at BirminghamHammerfest.com.
