About The Local

The Local is a collective of young storytellers dedicated to forging community by highlighting untold stories and rediscovering the familiar in the Birmingham area. Together we curate unique narratives and use explorative storytelling, visually appealing design and engaging photos to inform, connect and encourage our readers.

Every year The Local publishes a magazine that has been recognized as being among the best in the Southeast. You can look for that in the Spring. Between now and then, check back here throughout the week for new stories showcasing the best the Magic City has to offer.

About The Local

The Local is a community of young storytellers who capture and illuminate authentic views of Birmingham’s people, places and stories. Through digital and print media, we amplify voices, ignite conversation and encourage change.
