Birmingham has increasingly become a hub for foodies from all over the world. With people from varying backgrounds come new flavors, styles and innovations. April 2018 food festivals will transcend common customs and give Birmingham natives a new taste of the inventive city around them.
8th Annual Girl’s Inc. Cajun COOK-Off Saturday, April 7, 2018. 11AM-2PM; Railroad Park
Get some fresh air next weekend and enjoy live music, a kid zone and a mix of Cajun favorites like gumbo, jambalaya and shrimp and grits at Railroad Park. The cook-off supports Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, a program that provides a wide-range of educational programs for school-age girls in Birmingham. Tickets are $25 for adults and children under 12 get in for free.
CahabaQue BBQ Cook-off Saturday, APril 7, 2018. Cahaba Brewing COMPANY
At the CahabaQue BBQ Cook-off, visitors will be able to savor the live-music atmosphere while they sample as much BBQ as they want as teams compete for awards and cash prizes. Kids will also stay entertained with a bounce house inside an active fun zone. General Admission tickets are $15 for ages 13 & up, $5 for ages 7-12, and children 6 & under are free.
St. Elias Lebanese Food and Cultural Festival Friday & Saturday, April 13-14, 2018. 10AM-9PM; St. Elias Maronite Church
As a pillar of Lebanese culture since the festival started in 1999, Birmingham has welcomed the authentic cuisine and family-friendly environment every year. Specialties like spinach pies and various desserts will be available for purchase with a quarter of the proceeds going to charities like Camp Smile-A-Mile, the Jimmie Hale Mission, and others. Alabama Coffee Fest Saturday, April 21, 2018. 9am-12pm; Cahaba Brewing company
Wake up with premium coffee as curated roasters and coffee shops bring unique flavors from all across Alabama as they give live demonstrations. The event hosted by the Alabama Multicultural Organization will also offer pastry samples throughout the morning as well as live entertainment. Early bird specials are currently running until April 5 for general admission ($15) and VIP ($40) tickets.
