“Everything in a vintage market is special because it all already has history and a story. Shopping this way lets me pick up where the other story left off. I know I will pass it on to become a part of someone else’s story later.”

“I personally enjoy thrifting rather than retail because I take more pride in my outfits if I’ve gone through the trenches and hunted for them and gotten it for a good price. I think thrifting is becoming more popular because not only is old fashion coming back, but because it is more respectable nowadays to pay $2 for a shirt than $100. I also enjoy the thrifting culture, I think what I love most about vintage markets is talking to vendors about thrifting and their most prized finds.”

“I think vintage
shopping is rebounding because in recent years we have gained insight on fast fashion and the impact we have on our earth. Shopping second hand through vintage markets is a way to combat the negative effects of consumeristic American fashion.”
-Joy Nason, avid vintage market shopper.

“It is interesting to watch what brands and trends shift in popularity now eventhough they’ve been around for generations. Shopping second hand gives brands a whole new meaning. For example, Carthart is an industrial brand but all the suden it is for everyone. It never puts a brand in a box and always leaves room for a brand to mean something new.”
